The Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS) is a non-profit making organisation that was set up in 1977 by writers for writers in order to secure fair compensation for the writers’ works that are copied, broadcast or recorded. ALCS work in conjunction with the Copyright Licensing Agency, Public Lending Right, and many more overseas organisations. To date they have distributed over £200 million to in excess of 70,000 writers.
